Christmas Light Projection

Next dates

There's a new Christmas light display coming to Cheltenham this December, and it's completely free to watch. A specially created festive film will be projected across the front of the Municipal Offices, turning one of the town's best-known buildings into a giant screen. A good excuse to wrap up warm and head into town after dark.

Cheltenham Christmas Projection 2026

  • Date: Thursday 3 to Wednesday 16 December 2026

  • Time: Every evening after dark

  • Cost: Free

  • Location: Municipal Offices, The Promenade, Cheltenham

"What is a Christmas Light projection"? We hear you ask...

The display will combine moving images, light and sound to tell a festive story inspired by Cheltenham's history, heritage and character. It's a new addition to the town's Christmas celebrations for 2026, so even if you usually head into Cheltenham to see the Christmas lights, there'll be something different to look out for this year.

Top tip

If you're choosing an evening to visit, Thursday 10 December is worth considering. Cheltenham Christmas Market will have opened on the Promenade, and shops are being encouraged to stay open later.

There's a bonus for anyone driving in: on Thursday 3 and Thursday 10 December, parking will be free from 3pm in participating council-run town-centre car parks. That includes Royal Well, Rodney Road and St James Street, but not Regent Arcade.

Picture for illustrative purposes only, not real projection.
