Places to Visit

Gloucester Cathedral

Gloucester Cathedral's doors are once again open to general visitors.

People can access the building between 10.00am and 5.00pm, Monday to Saturday and 12.00pm and 5.00pm on Sundays.

Please watch the short video below which illustrates the new protective measures we have introduced to keep our visitors safe.

Your visit will be a little different to normal. Please read the information below before travelling.

How we are keeping everyone safe:

From Monday 6 July, the Cathedral opened for general visits. To keep everyone safe, we have changed our opening times and introduced some new protective measures, so a visit will be a little different to normal. These include:

Shortening our opening hours. From Monday 6 July, the Cathedral will be open to all visitors from 10.00am to 5.00pm.

Limiting capacity to allow for physical distancing. At peak times, this may mean queuing to get into the Cathedral. Signage encourages visitors to maintain a two-metre distance between themselves and others

Using a one-way system throughout the Cathedral to prevent close contact. Clearly marked signs and floor marking will show visitors where to go.

Closing confined spaces, to prevent close contact

Providing hand sanitising stations on entry and throughout the Cathedral

Maintaining high standards of hygiene and increasing our regular cleaning patterns

Checking and recording the temperature of all front of house staff at the start of their shift

You must wear a mask throughout your visit to the Cathedral (including at services), unless you have a health condition which prevents you from doing so. Effective from Saturday 8 August.

Partially closing the toilets to allow for physical distancing. One easy access toilet with a baby change table will remain open. Temporary toilets will also be available in Cathedral Green.

Keeping doors open throughout the building to maintain good airflow and to reduce contact surfaces

The Monk’s Kitchen is open and providing a delicious, contact free takeaway service. Opening times and the menu can be found here.

The Cathedral Gift Shop is open and ready to help you find those treasured momentos of your visit to the Cathedral. Opening times can be found here.

If you feel unwell, please do not come to the Cathedral. Stay home and follow NHS guidelines.
