Christmas Tractor Runs in Gloucestershire 2026

A few years ago, if you'd told us that one of the best free Christmas outings in Gloucestershire would involve standing on a frosty pavement waving at a tractor, we might have raised an eyebrow. Now we can't get enough of them.

Christmas tractor runs are a fairly new tradition (if there is such a thing as a new tradition) but they're growing fast. Local farmers, young farmers' clubs and vintage enthusiasts wrap their tractors in thousands of fairy lights (plus the odd inflatable reindeer), then drive them in a glowing convoy through villages and towns. Little ones go wild. Grown-ups go a bit wild too, if we're honest.

And they're a very welcome addition to the festive calendar. They're free to watch, they bring whole communities out onto the street, and the runs raise money for brilliant causes, from village schools and air ambulances to farming mental health charities. So pop some loose change in your pocket next to the gloves.

Before you go

  • Wrap up warm. You'll be standing still in the dark in December. Hats, gloves and a flask of hot chocolate are your friends.

  • Check before you set off. Lots of routes and timings are still being confirmed, so take a look at the event page nearer the time.

  • Times are a guide. Convoys often run a little late, especially if traffic is busy.

  • Pick a spot and stay put. Tractors don't usually stop. Village roadsides tend to be calmer for smaller children, while town centres draw the biggest crowds.

  • Bring cash or your phone. Many runs collect donations along the way, and some tractors carry QR codes.

  • Stand well back. These are big machines, however twinkly they look.
