Where Next? Cheltenham

Next dates

  1. Thursday, 9 April 2026

We’re delighted to be celebrating the launch of a wonderful new children’s book all about Cheltenham this Easter holiday at Dunkertons Park.

Where Next? Cheltenham is a charmingly illustrated picture book that captures some of the town’s best-loved sights. From Pittville Park and Neptune’s Fountain to the Everyman Theatre, young readers will enjoy recognising their favourite spots and excitedly exclaiming, “I know that place!”

At Dunkertons Tap Room on Thursday 9th April, 10.30–11.30am, we will be holding a relaxed and welcoming family session. There’ll be a live story reading from the author, Cheltenham-inspired colouring sheets and crafts (including some familiar pigeons!), and the chance to pick up your own copy of the book.

While the children get creative, grown-ups can enjoy a great coffee and something tasty from one of The Eateries. There’s no need to book and entry is completely free. It's ideal for little ones aged 2–10 and a lovely way to share a special morning together.

Melanie Carr is a local mum who created Where Next? Cheltenham with her childhood friend and illustrator, Katie O’Rourke, after realising there wasn’t a book that truly celebrated this lovely town. Knowing how much her two daughters would enjoy spotting the landmarks they know and love in a story, Melanie decided to create it herself!

Melanie works in education and understands just how important stories are for children. She believes books act as both windows and mirrors - helping children see the wider world while also recognising themselves and their own experiences within it. With Cheltenham full of wonderful places to explore, this book is a joyful celebration of the town so many families love and call home.
