The Wilson Art Gallery and Museum re-opens on Saturday 23 July 2022!
The opening weekend invites the community and visitors to the art gallery and museum for two days of free taster sessions, talks and workshops, children’s activities, live music and performance, café offers, Body Beautiful exhibition and the complementary Break The Cycle exhibition, which includes a clothes swap event. The first 100 visitors on both days will enjoy a free filter coffee, or cup of tea, in The Wilson Kitchen.
Saturday 23 July
10am to 6pm: The Wilson Kitchen café open serving hot and cold breakfasts, light lunches, coffee and cakes, children’s options.
10am to 6pm: Body Beautiful: Diversity on the Catwalk exhibition, produced by National Museums Scotland, free entry.
10am to 6pm: Enjoy music throughout the day on the ground floor including The Honeymoon Swing Band
10am to 10:45am: Bang the drum in the WOW gallery, fun for all the family
10:30am to 12:30pm: Made in a day: Indigo dying drop in session in The Foyle
10:30am to 11:30am: Boss Morris performance throughout the building
12pm to 12:30pm: Arts and crafts: Curator led tour in the arts and crafts gallery
1pm to 2pm: Tots and tales children’s storytelling, WOW gallery
1pm to 1:30pm: Body beautiful exhibition opening talk with Georgina Ripley, senior curator of modern and contemporary fashion and textiles at National Museums Scotland, Summerfield Exhibition Gallery
2pm to 6pm: Handling the collection: Exploring Edward Wilson and the Antarctic, Foyle space
2pm to 2:20pm: Break the Cycle exhibition, opening talk in the Sir Charles Irving Community Art Gallery
2:20pm to 4pm: Break the Cycle workshop, drop in session in the Sir Charles Irving Community Art Gallery
Sunday 24 July

3pm to 3:30pm: Explore the story of Cheltenham with a tour of Cheltenham Untold, Friends Gallery
3pm to 6pm: Beautiful beasts, explore the taxidermy from our museum handling collection in The Foyle
