Charlie's Green Train Machine Trail
Next dates
FREE Charlie and The Green Train Machine Trail with a £2 hot drink offer.
Tuesday 16 December – Friday 2 Jan, collect the bags during The Green Coffee Machine opening times.
This story trail was created by Tzara Spurrier. (@GlosBudgetMum) and Beth (@Inkmumblings), two local parents who have teamed up with a local coffee shop (The Green Coffee Machine), and volunteered their time to create something a little bit magical this winter, affordable fun, without the pressure big events bring.
How to join the story trail:
Head to Green Coffee Machine and pick up a FREE trail bag, which includes a map and character pieces. Follow the trail along the Honeybourne Line in Cheltenham, a former railway line, and enjoy a £2 reg hot drink* offer either before or after the trail - because parents deserve a treat too!
*£ 2 hot drink offer is only available weekdays 2 - 5pm.
As parents themselves, Tzara and Beth understand how tricky it can be to get out and about with small children. They wanted to make winter walks easy, fun, and completely free for families to enjoy together. And with a coffee at the start a end!
How it works:
1. Pick up your bag from Green Coffee Machine during their opening hours, and start your adventure! This is a self-led trail along the Honeybourne Line, or you can take it home and recreate it anywhere you like.

2. Use the map and the characters to tell a story to your little ones while helping Charlie and his woodland friends search for magical items along the way.
3. In your bag, you’ll find a map and character pieces, plus hidden bonus games and nature-inspired activities. The trail is inclusive and adaptable, take as long as you like! It might entertain your little ones for 5 minutes or hours.
The story trail provides a fun, flexible, and inclusive activity for all ages. Have the best time adventuring with Charlie, whether on the Honeybourne Line or anywhere you choose!
Endless fun awaits. All aboard!
Note: Tzara and Beth are making everything by hand, cutting out the characters and putting together each trail bag themselves. This means that at first, there will be a limited number of bags available (too avoid waste). But if demand is high, they’ll happily make more, please be patient, as it’s just two mums doing this in their spare time.
