Lit Fest: Free Children's Events

The Literature Festival begins in a few weeks time and once again the team at Cheltenham Festival have come up trumps with a series of fantastic free activities and events for little ones.

Saturday 8th and 15th October, 9:30am - 10:15am
Come along and join Tatty on her story adventures which combine music, yoga movement and specific activities to help your child develop their creativity, physical strength and overall confidence. Aimed at ages 3+ but younger siblings welcome.

Bear takes whatever means of transport he can fi nd: a bike, a lorry, a bus, a trolley… with lots of scrapes and japes along the way. Age 3+ but younger siblings welcome

Meet Paddy Kempshall, author of a hilarious new series in which one boy’s very magic pants take him on some unbelievable adventures! In The Lost Dinosaur, Pete’s magic pants pelt him back to prehistoric times. He quickly makes friends with a Dino Baby but can he escape the T Rex? And will he find the Dino Dada in time? Find out in this pant-astic storytelling session with free stickers.

To mark 100 years since Roald Dahl’s birth, take part in our phizz-whizzing quiz inspired by characters like the BFG, Willy Wonka and Matilda. Pick up your entry form at the Dean Close marquee.

Capture your dream in a jar or find out what your Roald Dahl character name is. Delumptious!


Family Activity Weekends

Saturdays and Sundays (8/9 and 15/16 October)
11am–2pm, Imperial Square and Waterstones Children’s Hideaway

Storytelling, face painting, musicians, character meet and greet, things to make and take – join us for our family activity days in Imperial Square on both Festival weekends. Come dressed as your favourite character and join in our fancy dress parade and prize-giving – see below for the themes per day:

Join us to explore The Hundred Acre Wood, build a den, play Pooh Sticks or pin Eeyore’s tail back on.

Beatrix Potter

Wizards and Witches

Come along to our magic school, solve the riddles and look out for a stilt walking wizard.

Superheroes

Test your powers, see how far your hero can fly and learn the tricks of the superhero trade.


Storytime Adventures

Pre-schoolers and their families can enjoy action-packed story sessions with our professional story-tellers and authors, featuring favourite picture books and imaginative play.
