Whether you're looking for a quick dash out of the house during a ray of sunshine, rainy day entertainment or a fun day with all the trimmings, we've compiled a list of some of the best things going on for families in Cheltenham this weekend.

Whilst the weather in the snapshot here looks pretty bad, in the extended version from the BBC, there are quite a few sunny spells (ssssssh!). Whatever you end up doing, have a great one. (Just pack a brolly and some good old British spirit).

Saturday

Our top pick this Saturday is Millie's Fun Day in Bishops Cleeve with lots of fun activities all priced at just £1. Plus there's character appearances, The Music Man and refreshments. Find out more

Southam Village Fete organisers say "This makes the Three Counties Show look like a jumble sale"... Who could resist that kind of promotion? Stalls, food, games, bar, and a dog show. Find out more

The wonderful Sue Ryder charity is holding a Concert at the Court in Leckhampton with live music and plenty of spots to picnic. Tickets £5 per adult, £2.50 for kids. Under 5s free. Find out more

Cheltenham Science Centre is open on Saturdays from 10am - 4pm and gives budding professors of all ages a chance to enjoy hands on experiements. £2 per person (under 4s free). Find out more

Sunday

The Willow Tree Cheltenham are hosting a Handmade, Food, Vintage and Craft Fair at Pittville Pump Room. 52 stalls plus live music and a BBQ. Free entry. Find out more

Gloucestershire Airport Open Day gives you a behind the scenes look at what goes on at Staverton plus loads of fun-day-type activities from inflatables to classic cars. Free entry. Find out more

There are still some spaces available for free tennis coaching at the NE14 Tennis Fun Day in Bishops Cleeve. Sessions for ages 3 and above. All free. (This will be indoors in the event of bad weather). Find out more

Saturday and Sunday INDOOR ideas

There's free entry to the Wilson Museum all year round with family trails, an art cart and a stay and play area for toddlers. Find out more

Every Saturday and Sunday Leisure At hold family fun swim sessions with colourful floats and toys in the teaching and adult pools. Find out more

Paint It Yourself Pottery is open Saturdays and Sundays and is a great wet-weather option, especially if you have a birthday or special occassion on the horizon - pick something and paint it for a unique gift. Find out more

The Jet Age Museum is free entry and there's a treasure trail around the museum for little aviators. Find out more

If you're looking to get out the house with tiddlers in tow, try the garden centre on Shurdington Road - there's a great aquarium which is a fab rainy day activity (although possibly not too thrilling for older kids!). Find out more

For the Grown Ups

Dickinson's Real Deal will be at Cheltenham Racecourse this Saturday with The Duke on hand to value your items with a chance to auction them on the spot. Find out more

Saturday night/Sunday morning the Lido are holding their glow in the dark Night Swimmer event. If you don't fancy the full 12 hours there are special slots available between 12-1am for a 30 minute dip in the illuminated pool. It's certainly a different way to spend a Saturday night!
