What's On In Cheltenham This Easter Holiday - Week One

There is SO much going on in Cheltenham this Easter, we've done a little round-up of some of the activities and events for you to explore. Don't forget, you can search the site any time to find activities to suit you and your family on your chosen day. Just pick a day and off you go.

Meanwhile, here’s a quick snapshot of our recommended kids events - there’s so much going on so we’ve had to split things into two weeks. Here's week one... Grab a brew and get planning..

Saturday 31st March

EASTER HUNTERS AT THE READY! There’s a host of Easter egg hunts happening in town today, including Easter Egg Hunts at The Boathouse & Pittville Park (including the launch of their boating activities) from 10am - 4pm, the Great Easter Egg Trail in Sandford Park from 1pm-4pm and the Hatherley Park Easter Egg Hunt from 2pm - 4pm. If you fancy a drive the infamous Painswick Egg Hunt runs from 12pm - 4pm, so you could probably fit in more than one! Hop along to The Tiny Breakfast Club at AquaVitae - kids eat free and get to burn off all that Mini Egg steam in the ball pit! Aquavitae is fast becoming a child-friendly destination during daylight hours - while parents can sit back and enjoy a spot of tea and cake..or double shot coffee depending on sleep obtained! On the activity menu today is egg cup decorating, followed by chocolate egg decorating for their egg cup! From 10am - 12pm. Find out more.


Enjoy making an edible mess at Hobbycraft Cheltenham’s Chocolate Egg Decorating Workshop! Each attendee will get their own chocolate egg to decorate with coloured icing and embellishments - you could wrap it up as a gift..or just tuck in to it in the car park - no judgement here! This workshop runs twice throughout the day and is suitable for ages 4+, with a parent / guardian required to assist. Choose from 1pm - 1:30pm, or 2pm - 2:30pm (30 minute sessions). The Easter fun continues with the Mad Hatter's Children’s Tea Party at the Cheese Rollers. Easter themed characters and competitions promised, including a family-friendly ggg hunt, ‘Best Decorated Easter Basket’ and a ‘Best Colouring’ contest! From 3pm - 5pm, free entry for everyone all day! Find out more.


Did someone say Yard Sale at The Bottle Of Sauce?! Okay, so it’s not technically an Easter activity, but good fun all the same. Cheltenham's fabulous monthly stall sale returns - and as if shopping in a pub wasn't enough to tempt you, there’s artisan coffee, cakes and pastries, breakfast baps, burgers and woodfired pizzas on the menu! With over 20 stalls to explore and live tunes from Cheltenham Vinyl Collective. From 10am - 4pm, free entry! Find out more.


Sunday 1st April

The annual Charlton Kings London Inn Easter Egg Hunt returns - hooray! Take a trip down the rabbit hole (garden) to hunt out those tasty chocolate eggs - there's 1,200 of them to be found on the grounds and in the trees - long arms needed for that bit! The hunt is aimed at younger children under 13 and accompanying adults, with an Easter raffle at the bar - so grown ups don’t miss out on the fun! From 3pm - 4pm, free! Find out more.


Easter Weekend

The Cadbury bunny has been busy at Chedworth Roman Villa! He’s hidden his precious choccy treats throughout the ancient Roman site - and it’s up to you to find them! With a few clues to crack along the way, complete the trail and you’ll win a Cadbury chocolate prize to take home! The Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt at Chedworth Roman Villa runs from Friday 30th - Monday 2nd April, 10am - 3:30pm daily. Hunt cost is £2.50 in addition to normal admission fees (adult £10.50, child 5+ £5.25, family £26.25). Find out more.


Need some big screen entertainment? Enjoy a fantastic child-focused selection in this weekend’s Movies For Juniors series. Choose from Tad The Explorer And The Secret Of King Midas (U) (running time 85 mins) at 10am, or Early Man (PG) (running time 90 mins) at 10:15am, showing Saturday and Sunday mornings. Monday 2nd April

School’s out - let’s hope the sun is too! The Easter Fun Day at The Plough returns due to popular demand, raising money for Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, and is packed with a host of child-friendly activities! From the traditional Easter Hunt, to face painting, a charity cake sale, an Easter Bonnet competition and a visit from The Music Man to entertain the little ones! From 3pm - 5pm, and it’s free! The Up Hatherley Library Easter eggs have gone missing and no one knows where they are! The Librarians would like to feast on chocolate eggs, but if they can’t find them then they’ll be hungry and sad (sounds like a January detox). The FREE Easter Hunt at Up Hatherley Library runs from Monday 2nd - Friday 13th April, times vary depending on opening times. Find out more.

Tuesday 3rd April

The Easter Egg Hunt at Create On The Square offers something different for the holidays..a bit of exercise without straying too far - and free chocolate! Collect your map to begin your quest, find the clues by working together and there may just be a prize waiting for you back at Create On The Square! Running Tuesday 3rd - Friday 6th April, from 10am - 4pm daily. Find out more.


Today sees the launch of Play Cafe at Elim Church, come along to this Space Academy event from 10am and stay as long as you like! Coffee and cake available all day, along with a toddler play area, crafts, a Lego competition with prizes to be won, and even a manicure for mums (pre-booking required). Play Cafe is suitable for ages 0 - 11, along with parents / carers. Entry is free, with refreshments for sale and small charge for craft. Open Tuesday 3rd & Wednesday 4th April, from 10am - 3pm. The exciting and exclusive Monoprinting Workshop aimed at young artists offers a chance for children to get creative and learn about the printing process under the guidance of a creative practitioner, making mini masterpieces full of colour and style! Clothes you don’t mind getting paint on is advised, with all materials supplied. Two session slots available at this Wilson Art Gallery workshop (either 10:30am or 1:30pm), £4 plus booking (pre-booking essential) per child. Find out more.


Wednesday 4th April

For a morning of Easter themed crafts, the Make Together Egg Extravaganza at the School House Cafe offers a fun morning of painting and printing, based on the theme of Easter & Eggs! A chance to develop brush skills and explore colour mixing, paint and decorate a wooden egg, and enjoy storytelling, crafts and games! There is also an opportunity to purchase coffee and some delicious food after the event, so no need to rush home! From 10am - 11am, suitable for children ages 2 - 6, £6 per child / adult pair. Thursday 5th April

The Willow Tree’s creative, sell-out events are always guaranteed to bring out your child’s inner artiste! Today, children will be decorating Ceramic Easter Eggs! All children's must be accompanied by an adult, tickets include 2 ceramic eggs per child. From 11am - 12pm, £7 per child. Find out more.


Make Together returns to the School House Cafe for more Easter-themed craft time - and this time it’s Bunny Madness! Come along and learn how to create and make bunny whiskers and printed rabbit paper! More coffee and homemade cake on offer! This activity is aimed at ages 2 - 6 and runs from 10am - 11am, £6 per child/adult pair. Find out more.


Josie’s Bakery offers some brilliant Easter Cookery Workshops for children this half term, teaching kids how to make a Mini Egg biscuit cake and bake some delicious cheese scones! Your child will learn lots of creative skills as well as making new friends and having lots of yummy fun! Workshops are suitable for children aged 4 - 14, and children are fully supervised at all times. From 10am - 12:30pm, £20 per child. Find out more.


It’s time for Easter Bounce & Play - yay! The indoor inflatable play sessions take place over 4 days during the Easter break (2 more next week), with a variety of squishy activities including a bouncy castle, activity bouncy castles and soft play! Children aged 0-11 are welcome with parental supervision, spaces are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment! Thursday 5th & Friday 6th April, sessions run from 10am - 4:15pm. Friday 6th April

Back to The Willow Tree for this special baby and toddler spring crafts session! Victoria from Baby Prints Cheltenham will be running the Fingerprints & Crafts Workshop, providing a fun morning of fingerprint crafting with your baby, toddler or child! The session is suitable for all ages of children (from 6 months old) and will be open to drop in to anytime between 11am - 12.30pm. Choose from a selection of crafts to complete with your child and take home, including designing a Springtime crown and making your own rosette! Tickets cost £5 per child which includes all craft items, fingerprint ink, crayons and baby wipes for cleaning little fingers. Find out more.


All Easter Holidays

Easter at Mr Mulligan's Lost World promises the usual mini-golf mayhem, with a few egg-stra special Easter treats! The Easter Egg Freakshake & Sundae makes the top of our menu - these epic milkshakes and sumptuous sundaes sound too good to miss! ‘Final Score’ is a crazy competition ongoing throughout the holidays - simply win prizes by doing absolutely nothing! Each day, each course will have a designated final score. Hand in your scorecard and see if you win a prize! ‘How do you win yours?’ Simply Guess the amount of eggs in a jar, get it right and win a whole lot of Cream Eggs (social media competition)! The Primrose Vale Easter Trail runs at the farm shop for the 2 weeks of the Easter holidays! Suitable for children of all ages, but most enjoyed by those aged between 3 - 15, there’s an Ultimate Easter Challenge, a Spring Hunt and a Toddler Trail! Sturdy footwear is recommended that is suitable for a muddy farm - fingers crossed it won’t snow! Enjoy trailing from Thursday 29th March - Sunday 15th April, 10am - 4pm daily, £5 per child and accompanying adults go free! Find out more.


Crickley Hill’s Big Egg Quiz is a must for those in need of fresh air and exercise - search the Spring greenery for the 14 hidden eggs to find the answers to some eggy quiz questions! Grab your quiz sheet for £2 at the cafe and head off on your hunt - with prize promised upon completion! Running Friday 30th march - Sunday 15th April, 8am - 6pm daily. Find out more.


Cotswold Farm Park's Spring Festival offers egg-stra special activities over the school Easter holidays, with a ‘hopstacle’ course and a treasure hunt around the park, and a prize for every child! There’s craft activities, a puppet show, bunny stroking and chick holding, greedy goat feeding, bottle feeding lambs and greeting the new arrivals during lambing in the Animal Barn! All activities are included in the cost of admission. Activities run from Friday 30th March - Sunday 15 April, 9am - 5pm daily.
